Editor for ArchiMate® Diagrams
The editor for ArchiMate® diagrams is used to represent relations between business areas from a range of perspectives (viewpoints).
Purpose
Diagrams and Viewpoints
ArchiMate® offers a range of instruments which can be used by enterprise architects to describe, analyze and visualize the relationships between business and IT.
ArchiMate® 3 standard is an open and independent modeling language for architecture, which has been developed by "The Open Group".
ArchiMate® diagrams represent relations between business areas from a range of perspectives (viewpoints).
In order to reduce the complexity of the enterprise architecture, ArchiMate® offers predefined viewpoints (perspectives). These are used in Innovator to represent the architecture customized for different purposes. A viewpoint comprises only the subset of elements and relationships predefined from the respective viewpoint.
Dynamic Viewpoints
A dynamic viewpoint represents how certain concepts (start elements) are linked using certain relationships with its neighboring concepts to e.g. focus the viewpoint for certain stakeholders to the respective relevant relationships.
The full function scope of the viewpoints is also fully available for the dynamic viewpoint. The dynamic diagram has the additional Start Elements, Path Length and Ignored Nodes properties. The Tree, Star and Layer standard layouts are also available to enable the best presentation possible for stakeholders.
ArchiMate® Color Concept
Colors in ArchiMate® models do not have a formal semantic significance; any color can be chosen to highlight certain aspects. However, the standard's examples always use certain colors to differentiate core levels and extensions: The default color scheme categorizes the elements into the respective level of the enterprise architecture.
Note
The usual ArchiMate® theme is offered in Innovator under View>Colors>Method Colors.
