Describing Business Processes

You can use a business process cooperation viewpoint to define a high-level view of business processes.

With the business process cooperation viewpoint, ArchiMate® provides a high-level view of business processes with which the responsibilities and dependencies for business processes can be depicted.

Note

Colors represent different information in ArchiMate®. The default color scheme categorizes the elements into the respective level of the enterprise architecture.

To use this color scheme, which is defined in the model template, select View>Colors>Method Colors.

To provide a rough description of the business processes in your enterprise architecture, proceed as follows:

  • Create a business process cooperation viewpoint as an overview diagram

  • Create a role to depict the people responsible for one or more business process

  • Create a business process to model certain processes that occur in a corporate division

  • Connect business processes to each other to express their temporal or causal dependencies
