Properties Tool Window

You can use the Properties tool window to modify properties of model elements and grant or withdraw access rights to the elements.

Purpose

You can use the Properties tool window to modify properties of model elements and grant or withdraw access rights to the elements.

The window always shows the properties of the current selection. If more than one model element is selected then you can only edit their common properties.

To avoid mishandling, you can use the Properties tool window in a mode which requires you to activate it before use by clicking on the check box to the top-left in the Properties area.

The  Create Property icon appears in the expanded Properties, Labels and Texts tabs with the Configure privilege; you can use these for opening a wizard for creating a stereotype property, a label or a text definition in a profile in the configuration.

Restriction

The result of the  Create Property command does not appear in the change log as adding takes place in the configuration.

Due to technical reasons when locking the respective profile, the list of recently used commands is deleted (not Undo (Ctrl+Z)).

The created property can only be edited in the configuration editor, moved to another profile or deleted. This is why it is a good idea to always fill out all name and description fields.

Prerequisites

Your role has to have the access right for the selected elements if you want to change the properties. Edit Mode is not required.

If the Disabled Properties option is activated, then you need to activate the check box to the top-left in the Properties area to edit.

Structure

A check box which allows the properties to be edited if checked appears if the Disabled Properties option is activated.

The Properties tool window uses the following tabs, depending on the element.

  • Properties
  • Type System Options
  • Labels
  • Texts
  • Image
  • Access Rights
  • Imported Profiles

Note

If a property, stereotype property, or label has the type "String" and the value is a URL, the field has a button that you can use to call the URL as its value.

Properties

Change the elements' properties and configured stereotype properties in the Properties tab.

You can use the configuration to suppress properties in the GUI display. The list of properties in the window is probably incomplete.

Attention

When selecting multiple elements please take extra care for properties which have an element list as a value. The corresponding change dialog is prefilled with the current value of precisely one of the elements of the selection. If the preallocation is adopted by clicking on OK in the dialog, the other elements selected are adapted accordingly.

Model administrators can use the $(model) and $(version) placeholders to set the model name displayed in the model editor for managed models in the Display Format property.

The model administrator can change the display of the model root and placeholders in the model editor. This allows the version to be displayed for existing versions.

As model administrator, you can see the following properties for the selected model root when the (InnoNotify) notification service is set:

  • Export with Notifications

Sets whether existing notifications are exported or converted along with the model or not.

  • Manage Notifications

The property is only visible if notifications exist in the model. These notifications can be active or inactive. The value displayed corresponds to the settings collected for all notifications. These can either be All Active or All Inactive. No Changes is used if there are both active and inactive notifications. Changing to another value also changes the user notification accordingly. Only no changes are made for No Changes.

  • Notifications are Active

The property is only visible if notifications exist in the model. The property is activated when the first notification is created and it is deactivated when the last notification is deleted. You can temporarily (de)activate notifications by using the property without needing to change the settings for individual notifications.

The  Create Property icon appears in the expanded tab with the Configure privilege; you can use this for opening a wizard for creating a stereotype property in a profile.

Type System Options

You can change the database element options for a database type system in the Type System Options tab.

You can use the configuration to suppress type system options in the GUI display. The list of type system options in the window is probably incomplete.

Labels

Use the Labels tab to modify configured labels or elements.

The  Create Property icon appears in the expanded tab with the Configure privilege; you can use this for opening a wizard for creating a label in a profile in the configuration.

Texts

You can modify specification texts in the Texts tab.

Note

You can use the configuration to set for each specification text whether

If a specification text is deleted, it is reset to the configured default setting.

The  Create Property icon appears in the expanded tab with the Configure privilege; you can use this for opening a wizard for creating a text definition in a profile in the configuration.

Image

You can use a file selection dialog in the Image tab to select an image and assign it to the selected element (e.g. to a concept node or business resource). The assigned image is used for showing the element in diagrams as long as the respective display option is set accordingly in the configuration.

An image cannot be assigned during multiple selection.

Access Rights

The access rights for the selected elements are shown in the Access Rights tab.

You can grant access rights for roles for the selected elements and withdraw these when in model administrator mode.

Imported Profiles

You can assign the respective imported profiles for system model or model packages from the profiles available in the model in the Imported Profiles tab.

You must be logged-in as a model administrator.
