Administrating Licenses
Licenses need to be administrated if you bought Innovator licenses or if they were supplied for testing purposes.
Note
Innovator products only need to be activated if you bought licenses or if they were supplied for testing purposes.
If you are using the demo version (for stand-alone systems only), all general Innovator 16.0 products are activated for a period of sixty days. However, only models of a certain size can be saved.
All programs and parameter files were copied to the computer during the installation. If Innovator does not find a license repository when started, the program automatically creates a demo license repository for a stand-alone system with a limited period of validity and other constraints (for example, the number of model elements that can be stored per model).
To work without any limitation with the products you have purchased, you must activate Innovator with your licenses.
Innovator supports two alternative license models:
-
Concurrent User License Model (floating licenses always multi-user licenses for one or more workstations)
Licenses with a license repository are managed via a main license server and can be distributed to internal and external projects. Licenses are floating licenses, i.e. not linked to a particular user and normally without time limitation.
Licensing depends on the number of users who work simultaneously with a given Innovator product. The license only applies to the Innovator version it was issued with and for older versions. You require a current maintenance agreement to receive a license for the current Innovator version.
-
Named User License Model (user licenses)
Licenses are managed by an MID-operated license server (subscription server). The licenses are linked to concrete users and require registration and online access to the subscription server.
The user can always use the most current Innovator version with their valid user license. The license is valid for the time frame in which an active license agreement exists. Once the license agreement has ended, the user license can no longer be activated by the subscription server and further use of Innovator is no longer permitted.
Based on your order, MID GmbH will provide you with a tailor-made license set for you to use.
Proceed as follows to receive your licenses and activate them:
-
Install Innovator. Initially, you will only have the demo version when you start the program.
-
You will need to request the necessary licenses via the sales department to MID GmbH.
-
If you want to use the Concurrent User License Model (license repository), then proceed as described in chapter "Administrating License Repository Licenses".
-
If you want to use the Named User License Model (subscription), proceed as described in chapter "Administrating Subscription Server Licenses".
You can use part of your licenses to equip separate project license servers. This way you can equip internal project license servers with a project-specific set of licenses on your network. Moreover, it is also possible to edit projects on external machines (e.g. for a presentation on a notebook computer).
