Starting and Closing Innovator Servers
License servers, model servers and further architecture elements make up the foundation for working with Innovator models.
Innovator Prerequisites
Innovator is normally used as a client server solution in the network. Before you start Innovator you should therefore ensure that the network has been started and is functioning correctly.
The network must be configured in such a way that Innovator can open the necessary network connections (ports). An open connection for the license server is required, via which all other Innovator products can connect to the license server. To ensure communication between a model server and the graphical interface, you will need an open connection for each interface program.
How to Proceed when Running Innovator Servers
Please proceed as follows so that you can work with Innovator in accordance with your licenses.
You can use the backstage view Services in the Administration Program when setting up an application as a service.
-
You normally begin by starting the
License Server on the main license server computer.
The license server is preferably set-up as a service.
-
The bus starts at the same time as the license server to provide communication components to enable quick and asynchronous status information to be passed between the servers and client applications.
If the license server is set-up and started as a service, then the bus also needs to be separately set-up and started as a service.
-
Start the agents on each model server computer as management components to be able to control and manage the system environment on the servers provided for Innovator operation.
The agent is preferably set-up as a service.
-
Start the model versions or independent model servers.
Model versions are automatically started and closed as a service by the agent.
Independent model servers are preferably set-up as a service.
-
Start the
Innovator-Model Editor or
Configuration Editor client applications to start the control.
How to Proceed when Shutting Down Innovator Servers
For a full shut-down, proceed as follows.
-
Close all affected client applications
Innovator-Model Editor and
Configuration Editor.
If necessary, prevent user logins to the model from independent model servers or model version in the
Administration Program.
-
Close the agents in the Services backstage view in the Administration Program or close the Java commands used.
The agents automatically close the started model versions and restart these when the agent is started.
-
Close independent model servers.
-
Close all affected project license servers and any main license servers and bus services.
