Administrating License Repository Licenses

Prerequisites

An administrator manages Innovator licenses.

Prerequisites for managing licenses are

• A License Server must be started
• The Administration Program must be started
• You must be logged-in as license administrator

In the following sections we will assume that these requirements are met.

License Administrator Tasks

The administrator's tasks include

• Starting and stopping license servers
• Extending licenses
• Setting up and closing internal or external projects
• Changing location of license servers
• Managing users in the main license server (also possible with the "Manage Users" right)

License Repository Licenses

License repository licenses provide the concurrent user license model with floating licenses; the number of users working with a certain Innovator product at the same time is important for these licenses.

All programs and parameter files were copied to the computer during the installation. If Innovator does not find a license repository when started, the program automatically creates a demo license repository for a stand-alone system with a limited period of validity and other constraints (for example, the number of model elements that can be stored per model).

To work without any limitation with the products you have purchased, you must activate Innovator with your license repository.

You will need a license repository to activate editions; this contains all requested licenses and the registration of the computer on which the license server runs.

The license repository for the licensed Innovator version will be e-mailed to you after you have transmitted the requested licenses and computer identification to MID GmbH.

Based on your order, MID GmbH will provide you with a tailor-made license repository for your computer. The licenses will be extended with this license repository and you can use your new Innovator version of immediately.

Proceed as follows to receive your licenses and activate them:

1. Install Innovator. Initially, you will only have the demo version when you start the program.

2. You will need to request the necessary licenses via the sales department to MID GmbH.

3. Determine computer identification for the license server computer in the Administration Program and send this to MID GmbH in an e-mail.

4. They will then send you a complete license repository for the registered computer, containing licenses for the products, programming languages and profiles you have purchased.

5. Activate your licenses by loading your license repository. If the activation was successful, your serial number will be displayed in the status bar.

6. Innovator is now ready for use with all products, programming languages and profiles you have purchased.

You can use part of your licenses to equip separate project license servers. This way you can equip internal project license servers with a project-specific set of licenses on your network. Moreover, it is also possible to edit projects on external machines (e.g. for a presentation on a notebook computer).
