New External Project Wizard

You can create an external project in order to assign project-related licenses to this project.

Purpose

A license repository's license pool is always managed on the central main license server.

You can use some of your licenses to equip external computers with a project-specific set of licenses. These licenses are then available in the external project but not on the main license server.

In addition to the management entry, a license file is generated for the specific computer when an external project is created in the server tree of the administration program. This license file replaces this computer's demo license.

Computer ID must be determined with the Innovator version for an external computer that you want to use for external projects.

Prerequisites

A license administrator login is required.

The host ID of the external computer (e.g. laptop) must be known. Use the License>Project License Server>Project Identification command in the Innovator version to determine host ID for the external computer you require the licenses for. If you do not do this, host identification will be invalid and the license file will not be accepted for the computer.

Call

Select a license server in the Standalone Servers tab in the administration program and select License>Create>New External Project.

Step 1 of 4: Create an External Project

How to proceed

  1. Enter a unique name for the new external project.

  2. Enter the Host Identification determined on the external computer.

  3. Enter the Expiration Date for the external project.

The external licenses are no longer available for the external project once the expiration date has been reached; they then become available on the main license server again.

  4. Enter a Descriptionfor the external project.

The description should e.g. contain the aim of the project and enable you to easily identify the external computer. The description is displayed as information about the project in the administration program.

  5. Click on Next.

  1. Click on Select... in the License File field to specify under what name (default: inolic.lr) and in which directory the license file with the assigned licenses and expiration period should be stored.

  2. Click on Next.

Step 4 of 4: Ready to Create a New External Project

How to proceed

  1. Activate the Open path of license file check box so that the license file's file path opens when complete.

  2. Click on Finish to create the license file for the external project with the data shown in the file path shown.

    The license file is created.

If you have selected the option, then the license file's directory opens in Windows Explorer.
