Providing Licenses for Mobile Computers

You can use some of your licenses to equip external computers with a project-specific set of licenses.

Separate Laptop Licenses

You can use part of your licenses to equip external computers. In this way, you can also edit projects on mobile computers with no contact to the main license server (for example, to enable presentations on a notebook).

You assign the required licenses and reserve them for your external project. This means that you can e.g. use current projects to decide how many licenses you need for which computers and for what length of time, and in this way separate the processing of your projects.

Note

For external projects, hardware-related, self-contained single-station licenses are always assigned for a limited period.

The following tasks occur in conjunction with the creation of external projects:

  • Setup of an external project computer
  • Assignment of licenses to an external project on the main license server and generation of a license file
  • Use of the license file on the external computer
  • Changing of an external project (in exceptional cases)
  • Deleting External Projects

Setup of an external project computer

How to proceed

  1. Install Innovator 16.0 on the computer that will be used for the external project.

If you want to use a previous Innovator version in the project, you need to install this version instead. Then proceed as normal.

  2. Start the license server and Administration Program on the mobile computer you which to determine host identification for.

  3. Select License>Main License Server>Host Identification.

The dialog of the same name appears.

A unique character string is displayed in the dialog. This is the host identification for your mobile computer.

Alternatively, you can also determine the host identification on this computer in the installation directory of Innovator with the inolsrv -h command.

  4. Jump to the internal computer on the main license server.

  5. Select the License>Main License Server>Login command in the Administration Program and enter your password.

  6. Create an external project license on the central license server and assign the licenses required from the project.

A license repository for the respective computer is created for external project license servers. This license repository extends this external computer's demo license.

Use of the license file on the external computer

Prerequisites

With the License>Project License Server>New External Project command, you have created an external project and created a license file with the assigned licenses.

How to proceed

  • On the external computer, select License>Main License Server>Load License File in the Administration Program to implement the license file generated on the main license server.

The assigned licenses are available for the license server on the external computer.

The maximum duration of licenses is 90 days from the creation of the license file. When the licenses expire, they become available on the main license server again automatically.
