Changing Licenses of an External Project

You can modify project licenses. Changes that entail the reactivation of external project licenses prior to their expiration date can only be performed with the permission of MID GmbH.

How to Change External Projects

You can change the assignment of licenses to external projects.

Note

For external projects, hardware-related, self-contained single-station licenses are always assigned for a limited period.

Restriction

Changes that entail the reactivation of external project licenses on the main license server prior to their expiration date can only be performed with the permission of MID GmbH.

External projects can be changed as follows.

  • Extending project licenses or the project duration

You can add further licenses for Innovator products to an external project. The number is always restricted to one relevant license. In addition, the duration can be extended to a maximum of 90 days after the creation date of the project.

The addition of further free licenses to an external project is possible without the knowledge of MID.

  • Untimely termination of a project

To delete an external project, you require a password that is sent to you following the communication of the corresponding project ID. Following the deletion, the project licenses are available on the main license server again. Further use of the external project license server infringes upon the license agreement.

  • Removing project licenses or shortening the project duration

The removal of licenses or shortening of the duration of an external project is performed by deleting the external project on the main license server and creating a new external project with a correspondingly reduced license assignment and/or shortened duration.

To delete an external project, you require a password that is sent to you following the communication of the corresponding project ID. Following the deletion, the project licenses are available on the main license server again.

To create the new external project with changed properties, you require the hardware ID of the external host again.

Extending Licenses and Durations of External Projects

Prerequisites

You must be logged-in as license server administrator.

Context

The addition of further free licenses to an external project and the extension of the project duration are possible without the knowledge of MID.

How to proceed

  1. Select the external project in the administration program.

  2. Select View>View>Edit Properties.

The project properties areas are displayed.

  3. To extend the expiration date, select a later expiration date for the assigned licenses in the Properties section. (There is a limited selection of possible expiration periods.)

  4. If necessary, change the information about the project purpose in the Description text field. This information is optional. The description is displayed as information about the project in the administration program.

  5. To add further licenses, activate the check boxes of the licenses you want to add to the external project in the Assigned column.

The number in the Free column is reduced accordingly.

  6. Click on Select... in the File field to specify under what name (default: inolic.lr) and in which directory the license file with the assigned licenses and/or extended expiration period should be stored.

  7. To generate the changed license file for the external project, click on Apply.

The license file is created with the specified name in the specified directory.

The license file must be loaded in the administration program on the external computer.

Determining, Saving and Submitting Project IDs of External Projects

Prerequisites

You must be logged-in as a license server administrator.

Context

The project ID is required in order to delete an external project. The deletion of the existing external project is also necessary if you want to reduce the licenses or duration of an external project.

Some fonts contain characters that can hardly be distinguished from each other (e.g., 1, l and I). It is therefore advisable to send the project identification immediately to MID in an e-mail.

E-mail transfer is supported by an automatic e-mail function in your system by default. In this case, you simply click on E-Mail in the Project Identification dialog to create an e-mail to MID with the project ID. Sending the project ID in this way easily avoids problems in providing the deletion password.

How to proceed

  1. Select the external project in the administration program.

  2. Select License>Project License Server>Project Identification.

The dialog of the same name appears.

A unique character string is displayed in the dialog. This is the project ID of your external project.

  3. To create an e-mail with the displayed information, click on E-Mail.

An e-mail with the information from the dialog is created with your system's standard e-mail application.

  4. You can add to this information and include a reason for wanting to delete the external project and your sender details.

  5. Send the e-mail to auftragsbearbeitung@mid.de.

Alternatively, send the information to the address below. If you choose to use the traditional postal service, make sure that the project ID can be clearly read.

    MID GmbH
    Order Processing
    Kressengartenstrasse 10
    90402 Nuremberg / Germany

MID GmbH will then generate a project-specific password and send the password to you.

You can then delete the external project license and create it anew.
