The Database Import Wizard is used for configuring database connections. Configured database connections can be selected as preallocations. The wizard also supports the DDL import.
The Database Import Wizard takes you through the steps necessary for importing database tables in order to set the source, subject and target of the database import.
You can use the settings for the import's source to create connections to any relational database management system (RDBMS, DBMS for short).
The wizard also supports the DDL import. You can import tables, views, saved procedures and triggers from a DDL file. These can be selected in the DDL Import Wizard.
The following description is based on the database import.
The wizard is only available in the Innovator for Database Architects.
At the top you can see which step you are currently in; from the second step onwards there is also back button
here, which you can click on to go back a step.
The middle section shows you the input and selection options available for the database connections or tables.
The bottom contains the Next or Import buttons and always Abort.
The wizard contains the following areas in the first step.
The list of database connections configured is shown in the list on the left-hand side.
The fields on the right-hand side are filled with connection details if you click on one of the database connections.
In addition to the commands that are available as buttons below the list, the context menu for a database connection also provides the following commands:
Import connections
Import connections from a file. The connection data from the file are added and provided with a unique name, if applicable.
Export connections
Export all connections to a file.

The name of the connection shown.
Try to establish a connection using the current settings.. Use to test whether the data entered can be made into a database connection. The button is activated if a database connection was selected.

Add a new database connection.
This creates a new database connection that you can rename and make settings for. Certain settings are preallocated.
Create a copy of the selected database connection.
The button is activated if a database connection was selected.
Delete the selected database connection.
The button is activated if a database connection was selected.
Advanced import button
This can start an extended import.
The DB Manager editor is completed for comparison and import purposes using the previous information in the wizard and the information in the Advanced database import dialog which follows.
The button opens the Advanced database import dialog and closes the wizard.
Next button
This takes you to the next step in each case.
When you have completed all the required information in the wizard, the Import button appears instead. The Import button imports directly into the selected target package.
To complete the DB Manager editor for comparison and import purposes, click on Advanced import.
Cancel button
This closes the wizard. If you have made any changes, you are asked if you want to save these.
How to proceed
to create a new one. Enter the necessary information for making the connection you want.
to copy the information, then make any changes required.
To test the configured data connection, click on Check connection settings.
The database login dialog appears. Enter the user and password and click on OK. The connection is tested and the result is displayed.
Click on Next.
The wizard jumps to the next step. A connection is made to the configured database in the selected database configuration and all tables available for import are shown in the wizard.
How to proceed
Click on Next.
The wizard jumps to the next step.
How to proceed
To import the selected tables and views directly, click on Import.
The selected tables and views are imported directly into the target package.
To complete the DB Manager editor for comparison and import purposes, click on Advanced import.
The selected tables, views and target package are shown in the DB Manager editor.
