Creating a Database Connection

Enter connection data in a database under a certain name so you can reuse it later.

Prerequisites

The Database Import Wizard is open.

Context

Create database connection data so it can be used at a later stage. You can select these connection data as the default in the wizard so you do not have to reenter the connection data. The name in the Name field is displayed in the wizard if you select a database connection there.

How to proceed

  1. Click on to create a new entry.

The entry is given default settings and has a unique name.

  2. Give the connection a significant name so that it is clear which database you are configuring a connection for.
  3. Change the Type, Host and Port entries by verifying your database selection, server address and port.

The port is automatically given the default port of the respective database if the type is modified. This means that you only have to change it if your port is not the same as the default.

  4. Enter the Catalog and the Schema where the tables you are looking for are.
  5. Enter your login details for the database.
  6. If you need to make any special changes, jump to the Advanced tab and make the appropriate settings.
  7. Click on the Check connection settings button to check the entry you created.
  8. To finish creating the database connection, either click on the Next if you want to use the connection straight away or on Cancel and confirm the dialog with Yes.
