You can translate specification texts into a display language.

Translating Specification Texts Manually or Using a Web Service

Prerequisites

Due to your currently used role you have the privilege Translate Model Elements.

You are in the Translation tool window for a translatable specification text.

You must configure the API access to the license server before a web service can carry out an automatic translation.

Context

You can translate every text definition's specification text that was configured with the is translatable property activated into every active display language.

Note

Spell check first checks the texts entered when it is saved in the active display language.

You can use the translated specification texts at a later stage for presentation or documentation of your model in the display language.

You may need to update the translations during the course of the project as these texts need to be maintained.

How to proceed

  1. Select the specification text you want to translate from the Translation tool window.

  2. To translate the specification text using a web service, click on Translate Automatically.

    The specification text is translated into the active display language.

  3. To manually create the specification text or to edit the text automatically translated using a web service, click on Text....

    The translation editor for a specification text appears.

  4. Enter or edit the translation for the specification text in the right-hand area of the display language.

  5. Save the translated specification with Text>Specification>Save (Ctrl+S).

Formatting Translated Specification Texts

Prerequisites

Due to your currently used role you have the privilege Translate Model Elements.

You are in the editor for translating a specification text.

Context

If an initial translation was created in the Translation tool window using a web service, then this is shown in the translation area on the right-hand side. The web service cannot work with character and paragraph formats. The text is always initially unformatted. This also applies for imported translations.

Manually-entered text in the display language on the right-hand side is also initially unformatted.

You can copy formatting for the specification text in the model language in the left-hand area to the display language in the right-hand area.

How to proceed

  1. Set the insertion point in the formatting or hyperlink that you want to transfer and select Text>Font>Format Painter.

  2. To transfer the copied formatting to the paragraph, click in the paragraph in the right-hand area.

    The paragraph is formatted in the left-hand area.

  3. To transfer the copied formatting to the connected text, select it in the right-hand area.

    The text is formatted in the left-hand area.

  4. To transfer the copied hyperlink to the connected text, select it in the right-hand area.

    The text is formatted with the hyperlink.

  5. Save the specification with Text>Specification>Save (Ctrl+S).
