Translating Model Content in Alternative Display Languages
You can translate model element terms from the model language into an alternative language.
Prerequisites
Due to your currently used role you have the privilege Translate Model Elements.
The model administrator must have set at least one active display language so that you can select a language.
You must configure the API access to the license server before a web service can carry out an automatic translation.
Context
You can translate model content and display these translations to help when presenting the model to those who are not familiar with the model language.
Elements require a unique name within their namespace; if necessary, this is created automatically with a suffix. This name is always the name in the model language. However, you can translate model element terms into an alternative language. There are no constraints for the terms in an alternative display language.
Please note that combined terms may appear for model elements; these resulted from the configuration's display options.
The Translation tool window lists the model element terms that are relevant for labeling recursively selected element terms.
You can set the active language in the status bar using the flag icon and in the tool window by clicking on the language's column header. The active language is marked with an icon.
If there is no translation for an element in the selected display language, then the term is used in the model language in the model.
To change the status of a translation, as well as using the selection icon you can use shortcuts that work on the selected line and in the translation field:
Out of date: [Ctrl]+[O]
Up-to-date: [Ctrl]+[U]
Not translated: [Ctrl]+[N]
Not to be translated: [Ctrl]+[D]
You can manually translate or use a web service to carry out an automatic translation.
Restriction
When you have finished translating, presenting or documenting, do not forget to switch back to the model language in the status column, since only restricted modeling is possible in the display language.
How to proceed

Select Review>Translation>Translate Model Elements.
The Translation tool window appears. Display depends on the selection.

Select the display languages which you want to translate one after another from the Language drop-down list.
Terms in the model content are shown in the set languages. If there is no translation for an element in the selected display language, then the term in the model language is used.

Select the model elements which you want to translate.
The Translation tool window lists the relevant terms of the recursively selected model elements.

Activate the relevant check box in the Texts to display group to restrict the display to a certain status.
We recommend that you deactivate the Not to be translated check box when entering translations so as to make it easier to navigate through the list.

Select the elements to be translated in the Model Language column and click on Translate Automatically to automatically translate model elements using a web service.
The web service provides a translation for all selected model elements or all model elements in the table.
The translated terms are used depending on the display options selected.
If there are multiple elements with the same name in the Model Language column and you have a translation for only one of the elements, then a copy icon
appears at the end of the row.

To manually translate a model element, click in the <Display Language> column on the row of the element that you want to translate, enter the translation and finish by clicking on [Enter] or jump to the next input field by clicking on [Tab]. Use [Esc] to cancel the entry.
The translated term is used depending on the display options selected.
If there are multiple elements with the same name in the Model Language column and you have confirmed a translation for one of the elements, then a copy icon
appears at the end of the row.

Click on the copy icon
to transfer a translation to an element with the same name.
If a conflict occurs, you can decide whether to overwrite or retain different existing translations. This situation can occur if elements are reused in other diagrams, for example.

To change the status of a translation, select the status in the status icon column or use the shortcuts.
Your selection is restricted to the possible transitions.

Activate the Not to be translated check box in the Texts to display group if you want to translate an element flagged as Not to be translated. Select the element in question and select Not translated from the status column or press [Ctrl]+[N]. Enter a translation and confirm it.
The status changes to Up-to-date.
