The WPF interface of the new Innovator products differs from previous Innovator interfaces. Role-specific requirements can now be better dealt with and working in diagrams is set out in a more productive way.
Model Tree in the Model Browser
The model tree is replaced by the Model Structure view in the Model Contents tool window. The Model Structure primarily lists all model elements which have a stereotype.More elements are displayed in the Model Structure due to omission of assigned elements.
Detail View
The Details tool window shows the details about everything that can be selected (model elements, diagram elements, specification texts etc.). As this also includes diagrams, the Detail View replaces the previous navigation frame in the diagram editor. Certain elements in the Detail View can be found in the Properties area for the element selected, e.g. the editing history.
Result Region
The Result Region remains largely unaltered.
Toolbars
The icons which were previously in three toolbars can now be found in the ribbon, quick access toolbar or carousel for diagram elements. The configuration options for these new control elements have been modified accordingly.
The icons in the toolbar on the left-hand side of the model browser or diagram editor are used for creating model elements. You can find them in the ribbon or carousel.
The icons in the toolbar at the top of the model browser or diagram editor are used for general management functions. You can find them in the ribbon or quick access toolbar.
The icons in the toolbar on the right-hand side of the diagram editor are primarily used for arranging diagram elements. You can find them in the ribbon.
Properties Dialog
The Properties dialog was integrated into the interface as the Properties tool window. You can also use it as a floating tool window.
The area does not need to be explicitly open; it can be closed or automatically hidden.
Specification Editor
The specification editor can be found in the central document window as an area. Specifications can be extensively formatted.A Specification Preview tool window allows specifications to be read in parallel to the selection in the diagram.
Jump>References
The Jump>References function was split into Start>Browse>Go to>Occurrences in Diagrams... and Start>Browse>Go to>Linked Elements... (Ctrl+Shift+Enter).
Help>What's this?
The Info command in the Help submenu opens the respective Info tool window and contains information about the model element.
Status Bar
When logging-in and out as administrator and changing roles in the status bar, you simply need to click on the Current User or Currently used role areas.
Start Page
The Start Page makes it considerably easier to open models and provides information such as current release information, video demonstrations, downloads, contact options and access to the Innovator community.
Bookmarks
You can use the Bookmarks in the Model Contents tool window to add model elements you frequently use and access them quickly.
Diagram Overview
The Diagram Overview tool window is used for orientation purposes to find out which diagram view you are in and for direct selection of a diagram section.
Specification Preview
The Specification Preview tool window is used for reading all configured specification types of a model element parallel to its selection.
