The Details window shows the information about the element selected in a configurable structure.
The Details window shows information and elements which are linked with the element selected. Unlike the model structure, all roles are taken into consideration not just the owner. Elements which do not even appear in the model structure can also be shown.
Information is shown in a tree structure. The nodes are grouped into roles below the heading node.
The name of the context element which these details belong to is shown in brackets in the top-most node so you can find your way more easily.
Show the Details tool window using the View>Window>Tool Windows>Details menu item.
The Options dialog (access in the application menu) can set how many levels can be visible in the Detail area. As many levels that were set here are initially expanded in the detail trees.
If you select an element in the Model Contents tool window, in a document (diagram, table) or in the Result Region tool window, certain information is shown about this element in the Details window depending on what element type is selected.
Unlike in the Properties tool window, no information is shown in the Details tool window if more than one element is selected.
Information about the model users, user roles and available profiles are shown for the model's root nodes. The Info tool window is not available for the root node.
Information shown about models includes e.g. imported profiles, diagrams and elements directly included, create defaults and general information (editing status).
Information shown about diagrams includes e.g. appearance in whiteboard diagrams and annotations.
Information shown for elements and relationships includes e.g. classification in the model and selected properties.
Apart from headings, you can edit every element which appears in the Details window using the Properties tool window; it is also possible to edit elements that do not appear in the model structure.
Diagrams can be opened by clicking on the [Enter] key, with a double-click and with the Open and Open Read-Only commands.
You can edit specification texts with the Start>Editing>Specification Text (F3) command.
You copy elements and paste them in the model structure.
The context menu contains other commands.
You can use the mouse (left mouse button pressed) to drag elements into other areas.
Elements can be dragged into the result region and are then added.
Elements can be dragged into an open diagram if they are allowed as contents in the diagram and do not already exist there. This only works for logical elements (e.g. classes), i.e. it does not work if diagram elements (e.g. class nodes) are shown in the Details area.
Elements can be dragged into the bookmarks and stored as a bookmark.
You can modify the structure of the detail window in the Browser Configuration node in the Documentation Structures view in the configuration editor. This is separate for each type of element.
