Quick Search

Searching for model elements based on their name or element type.

Prerequisites

The Find in the current model dialog box is open.Select Start>Browse>Find>Find (Ctrl+F).You can also activate the property search in a dialog which is already open by selecting the Quick Search entry in the drop-down list in the dialog's header.

How to proceed
  1. Enter the string which should be in the element you are searching for in the Search for field. "*" can be used as a placeholder within the string. The drop-down list contains search patterns already used. If you do not enter a string, the hit returns all elements of the selected type.
  2. Select the type of the element to find in the Find Element Type drop-down list.Allsearches without type constraint.
  3. You can define the search in the Search options group. It is not a good idea to use Match whole word when using wildcards.
  4. You can filter the search to selected elements and their successors, e.g. to a package.
  5. You can decide how the results should be shown in the Result options group.
  6. Click on Find.

Depending on the result option you chose, the following appears:

    • Show next hit in model structure:

Clicking on Find jumps to the next hit in the model structure. Once you get to the last hit, the search begins again from the start. The model structure is made visible, if necessary.

The element is jumped to in the Details window if necessary as not all elements are shown in the model structure. If the element is not configured for the Details window, then it is not possible to jump to it.If this is the case, use the Show all hits in result region option.

    • Show all hits in result region:

All model elements which fit the search pattern are shown in the result region. The result region appears if not already visible.

The dialog box remains open to continue your search or add new entries. You can continue to work normally in the model while the search is being carried out.
