Properties Search

Searching for model elements using any number of properties.

Prerequisites

The search dialog is open. You can do this by using the "Find by Properties" command in the Find menu in the Start tab's Editing group. You can also activate the property search in a dialog which is already open by selecting the Find by Properties entry in the drop-down list in the dialog's header.

Context

The search dialog can be used to search for model elements which fulfill certain properties. This includes label values, properties and stereotype properties. You can also limit the search to one element type. e.g. you can search for processes with "public" visibility.

How to proceed
  1. You can use the Find Element Type drop-down list to limit the search to model elements of one type.
  2. You can filter the search to selected elements and their successors, e.g. to a package.
  3. You can use the Conditions group to decide how individual conditions are linked.
  4.  Each row in the table shows a condition. You can use the "+" and "-" buttons to add or remove other conditions.
  5. Name: Select the desired property here.
  6. Operator: The available operators depend on the type of property.
  7. Value: Select the desired value or enter one here. The value area depends on the type of property.
  8. Click on Find

The model elements found are shown in the result region.

The dialog does not close so you can repeat the search or enter a new search. You can continue to work normally in the model while the search is being carried out.
