Get Temporary Administrator Rights

A few processes require you to be logged-in as model administrator.You can use the Get Temporary Administrator Privileges dialog to get temporary administrator rights so you do not have to close the model and reopen it as administrator.

Prerequisite

The Get Temporary Administrator Privileges dialog is only available in the Enterprise edition.

Purpose

You only need administrator rights to:

Import and export add-ons and model templates
Withdraw access rights in the Properties area

Administrator rights may help to access and grant elements in badly-configured models without needing to change roles. It is not a good idea to always have administrator rights as it cancels out the role concept.

Enter

Enter the model administrator's password in the Model Administrator Password field.

Call

This dialog appears when the "Administrative Tasks>Administrator Mode" command is run in the application menu.

You can also open this dialog by clicking on the user name in the status bar.

Effect

Clicking on OK gives you administrator rights (assuming you entered the correct password).

The words "Model Administrator" appears in front of your login name in the status bar.

You can now access all model elements, can grant access to model elements in the Properties area and all commands are released for your use.

You still have the roles belonging to your original login, i.e. newly-created model elements get access for this role.

Note:

It is not a good idea to work as the "Model Administrator" user as model elements created by the model administrator cannot be accessed by any users.
