With its Unified Modeling Language (UML), the Object Management Group (OMG) provides one language for describing complex systems. UML elements are not displayed linguistically or theoretically.Innovator for Software Architectsuses established notation elements which are also used in the OMG specification.

UML does not set which notation elements can be used in which diagram types. There is, however, an assignment which can be derived from the most likely use of notation elements. This assignment is also taken as the basis of the standard profile included within scope of delivery.
