Running Path Analysis
Set end elements in the graph to run a path analysis.
Context
You can carry out a path analysis using an impact analysis by setting end elements.
The graph shows all paths that lead from the start element to one of the end elements. Cycles can be hidden.
The graph can be flattened so that the initial node is shown as exposed.
Only paths which are shorter or the same length as the scope of analysis are shown.
When using final elements, the graph is first shown if at least one final element is reached in the scope of analysis.
If all final elements are not reached, then a message appears at the initial node.
You can also use a saved query to specify the amount of end elements.
How to proceed
-
To add the a node in the graph to the end element of an impact analysis, select the node and select Set as end element from the context menu.
The analysis graph is recalculated.
The diagram shows the possible paths from the start element to the end elements using the current configuration.
-
To add the a further element to the end elements, select the node and select Add to end elements from the context menu.
The analysis graph is recalculated.
The diagram shows the possible paths from the start element to the end elements using the current configuration.
-
Select the Impact Analysis>Graph>Hide Cycles toggle command if you do not wish to show cycles.
The analysis graph is recalculated. Nodes and edges along the path between the initial and final elements which contain the same node more than once are not shown.
The toggle command setting is saved for the diagram.
-
Activate the Impact Analysis>Graph>Smooth graph toggle command to align all nodes along the length of the path in the graph direction, starting from the initial node.
The analysis graph is recalculated. The logical edge direction is ignored. A node with a short path length from the initial node is close to the initial node.
The toggle command setting is saved for the diagram.
-
To remove an element from the list of end elements, select Impact Analysis>Graph>End Elements. The dialog of the same name appears. Select the element in the list and click onRemove. Confirm the selection with OK.
The analysis graph is recalculated.
-
To use the search result from a stored search as the end elements, select Impact Analysis>Graph>End Elements. The dialog of the same name appears. Select the stored search and confirm with OK.
The end elements are determined by the search.
The analysis graph is recalculated.
