Administrator Login Dialog
For some processes, model administrator rights are required. You can temporarily change to model administrator mode.
Purpose
You only need administrator rights to:
- Rename the model
- Change the configuration, particularly execution rights
- Import and export add-ons and model templates
- Manage users and their roles
- Define the alternative display language for diagram contents
- Withdraw access rights for model elements
- Withdraw visibility for package levels
Administrator rights may help to access and grant elements in badly-configured models without needing to change roles. It is not a good idea to always have administrator rights as it cancels out the role concept.
Prerequisites
The Administrator Login dialog is only available in the Enterprise edition and only appears for models in non-single sign-on repositories.
Call
This dialog appears once you click on the Model>Administrative Tasks>Administrator Mode command.
You can also open this dialog by clicking on the user name in the status bar.
Input
Enter the model administrator's password in the Model Administrator Password field.
Effect
Clicking on OK gives you model administrator rights (assuming you entered the correct password).
The words Model Administrator appear in front of your login name in the status bar.
You can now access all model elements, can grant access to model elements in the Properties tool window and all commands are released for your use.
You still have the roles belonging to your original login, i.e. newly-created model elements get access for this role.
Note
It is not a good idea to work as the Model Administrator user as model elements created by the model administrator cannot be accessed by any users.
