Find Dialog
You can save a search for model elements by names, specification texts, properties, notes, label values, data or type system option and save it under a name. You can use various search options to limit the search and allocation in the result region.
Purpose
Use the Find dialog to search for model elements by their names, specification texts, properties, notes, label values, date or type system option.
You can use various search options to limit the search and allocation in the result region.
You can use an SQL query language for complex search combinations.

Deleted Elements (for activated change logs)
- User-defined searches that were saved in the dialog or that are available as searches throughout the models
- Customizable searches that are essentially available as searches throughout the models are stored in the inoref.xml file in the $INODIR directory and can be edited there if required.
On repeated execution of the Find (Ctrl+F) command, the dialog shows the entries for the last search carried out with this dialog. The tab used is restored with the most recent entries.
Structure
The dialog has three areas next to each other.
The left-hand list of saved searches is hidden by default. You can show or hide the list by clicking on Saved Queries. The respective icons can be found below the list.
In the middle you can see the tab buttons which you can use to switch the search criteria in the main right-hand area of the dialog.
For a description of the procedure in the individual tabs, see .
The same Search Options are provided for all tabs.
You can define the following as the Search Scope:
-
Entire Innovator model
Search the entire Innovator model.
-
Within selected area
Restrict the search scope to the selected elements and their subelements.
-
Current selection only
Restrict the search scope to the selected elements.
-
In the result region
Restrict the search scope to the content of the result region.
You can define the following as the Result Presentation:
-
In the result region
Display search results in the Results region.
-
In the result region and in a table
Display search results in the Results region and in a table. Configurations set for Contents as Table are used for the table.
-
In a table
Display search results in a table. Configurations set for Contents as Table are used for this.
If the Overwrite result region check box is activated, the previous content of the result region is replaced by the search results (no selection takes place) instead of these being inserted and a selection being made.
You can use the Find button to start the search on the basis of the search criteria in the active tab and with the set search options.
Saved Searches
You can save the search settings for the current tab as a user-defined search.
The Edit Model-Wide Configurations privilege enables an existing user-specific search to be prepared so that it can be made into a search across all models that can be used by all users.
The user-defined searches can be seen in the Saved Queries list and in the Start>Browse>Find submenu. You can run the search by clicking on it in the submenu.
-
List of Saved Searches
You can enter a name pattern in the <Filter> field above the structure content to restrict the entries displayed there.
Icons split configurations into two groups:
Model-wide configuration
User-defined configuration
A tool tip appears for each entry when you hover over it with the mouse; it shows information, e.g. for creating model-wide configurations.
A loaded search activates the tab stored in it (e.g. Find Label) and the settings contained in it.
A selected saved search can be edited. An asterisk next to the name indicates unsaved changes.
The search remains opened and is modified when the tab is changed. This can be used to e.g. replace a stored search with an extended search with the same name without needing to delete it and create it as new.
-
Command Toolbar
The following commands can be used to manage the searches.
-
New
Creates a new user specific configuration. It will be saved with the current settings, and it will be loaded then.
-
Rename
Rename the selected configuration. Renaming a configuration which has pending changes is not possible. Renaming a model-wide configuration requires the privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations'.
-
Delete
Delete the selected configuration. Deleting a model-wide configuration requires the privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations'.
-
Copy
Create a user specific copy of the selected configuration. The copy is loaded. Copying is not possible when the loaded configuration has no pending changes.
-
Deploy
Create a model-wide application configuration from the selected user-specific configuration. After deployment as a model-wide configuration, the user-specific configuration is deleted. The selected configuration must not have pending changes. The privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations' is required.
-
Save
Save the current settings to the selected configuration. If a model-wide configuration is selected, you need the privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations', otherwise you can choose a name for saving the configuration user-specifically. The saved configuration is then considered loaded.
-
Save As
Save the current settings into a new or existing configuration, model-wide or user-specific. Saving a model-wide configuration requires the privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations'. The saved configuration is then considered loaded.
-
Discard Changes (for directly editable configurations)
Discards the changes on the edited configuration. Restores the loaded search and jumps to the corresponding tab with the stored settings.
-
View Content
Opens a dialog which allows viewing the configuration as text. Changes are not possible.
-
Edit Content (replaces View Content for defective configurations)
Opens a dialog which allows editing the configuration as text. In this way can a configuration be repaired that cannot be loaded anymore.
Proceed carefully as invalid structure changes may make the configuration unusable.
