Manage alternative display languages for model content

Purpose

The Display Languages dialog manages the languages that can be used for the translation of model content.

You can add and remove languages. If you remove an active language, translations into this language are lost.

You can select a display language or reset the language back to the model language in the model editor's status bar or in the Language drop-down list in the Translation tool window.

Prerequisites

Model administrator status is required.

Call

You can find the Display Languages button in the Manage Languages backstage view.

Structure

  • The Available languages list contains the languages that are not yet used in the model. You can use the Add » button to add languages to the Active languages list. Multiple selection is possible.

  • The Active languages list contains the languages that are available in the model. You can sort this list using the arrow buttons or with the mouse. The same order is found in the drop-down listsfor the languages to be used. You can use the Remove button to remove languages from the model again. Multiple selection is possible.

    Attention

    If you remove an active alternative language, then all existing labels in this language are deleted.

Adding Languages

Context

Select further display languages for translation.

How to proceed

  1. Select one or more languages which you want to add in the Available languages list.

    The Add » button is activated.

  2. Click on Add ».

    The languages are added to the end of the Active languages list in the same order.

Removing Languages

Context

Remove used display languages from the model.

How to proceed

  1. Select one or more languages which you want to remove in the Active languages list.

    The Remove button is activated.

    Note that when you remove display languages, existing translations in these languages are lost and cannot be restored.

  2. Click on Remove.

    The languages are removed from the Active languages list and added to the Available languages list.

Sorting Languages

Context

Change the order of the display languages in drop-down lists in the model.

How to proceed

  1. Select a language you want to move in the Active languages list.

    The arrow buttons become active.

  2. Move the language up or down using the buttons. You can also change the order by dragging a language with the mouse.

    The order which the languages appear in in drop-down lists in the model is adjusted.
