Manage Table Views Dialog

The dialog is used for managing display configurations for the table editor for content.

Purpose

You can select element types or stereotypes for table views in the Manage Table Views dialog. You can save your selection as a table view in the dialog.

Selecting a table view applies the respective arrangement and configured content to the active table.

The dialog contains functions for managing display configurations for the table editor for available content.

  • Create a user-specific configuration

  • Rename selected configuration with saved changes

  • Delete selected configuration

  • Copy selected configuration with saved changes

  • Create model-wide configuration from a selected, user-specific configuration with saved changes

  • Save current settings as user-specific configuration

  • Discard changes which have not yet been saved

Prerequisites

  • You require the Edit Model-Wide Configurations privilege when renaming, deleting and preparing model-wide configuration.

  • You require saved changes to rename, copy and prepare model-wide configuration

Call

The Manage Table Views dialog appears with the  Start>Open>Contents as Table>Manage Table Views command.

The dialog with the  Design>Table View>Manage Table Views command appears when the table view is opened.

Structure

The dialog consists of the list of saved table views with the filter field in the list header, the toolbar of commands, the Element type drop-down list, the Stereotype drop-down list with the (all) check box and the standard button Close.

  • List of Stored Table Views

You can enter a name pattern in the <Filter> field above the structure content to restrict the entries displayed there.

Icons split configurations into two groups:

     Model-wide configuration

     User-defined configuration

A tool tip appears for each entry when you hover over it with the mouse; it shows information, e.g. for creating model-wide configurations.

An asterisk next to the name indicates unsaved changes.

A selected saved table view can be edited.

  • Command Toolbar

The following commands can be used to manage the table views.

    •  New

Creates a new user specific configuration. It will be saved with the current settings, and it will be loaded then.

    •  Rename

Rename the selected configuration. Renaming a configuration which has pending changes is not possible. Renaming a model-wide configuration requires the privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations'.

    •  Delete

Delete the selected configuration. Deleting a model-wide configuration requires the privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations'.

    •  Copy

Create a user specific copy of the selected configuration. The copy is loaded. Copying is not possible when the loaded configuration has no pending changes.

    •  Deploy

Create a model-wide application configuration from the selected user-specific configuration. After deployment as a model-wide configuration, the user-specific configuration is deleted. The selected configuration must not have pending changes. The privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations' is required.

    •  Save

Save the current settings to the selected configuration. If a model-wide configuration is selected, you need the privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations', otherwise you can choose a name for saving the configuration user-specifically. The saved configuration is then considered loaded.

    •  Save As

Save the current settings into a new or existing configuration, model-wide or user-specific. Saving a model-wide configuration requires the privilege 'Edit Model-Wide Configurations'. The saved configuration is then considered loaded.

    •  Discard Changes (for directly editable configurations)

Discards the changes on the edited configuration.

    •  View Content

Opens a dialog which allows viewing the configuration as text. Changes are not possible.

    •  Edit Content (replaces View Content for defective configurations)

Opens a dialog which allows editing the configuration as text. In this way can a configuration be repaired that cannot be loaded anymore.

Proceed carefully as invalid structure changes may make the configuration unusable.

  • Element type drop-down list

Select an element type which you want to show in the table. The element type's configured stereotype is shown in the Stereotype drop-down list.

  • Stereotype drop-down list with(all) check box

If multiple stereotypes were configured for the element type, then you can select single or all stereotypes in the Stereotype drop-down list.

How to Proceed

You can only open a table for content if a table view has been previously configured.

Create the view for a table for any element types as follows:

  1. Open the Manage Table Views dialog with the Start>Open>Contents as Table>Manage Table Views command.

  2. Click on New and add a name to create a table view.

  3. Select an element type and activate the check boxes for the stereotypes you want to display in the table view.

Repeat the selection for any further element types and their stereotypes.

This determines the potential table content but not what the content will look like.

  4. Click on Save to save the table view for the element type.

  5. Close the Manage Table Views dialog so that you can make further settings for the table view.

  6. Select the structure element that contains elements of the selected element type.

  7. Click on Start>Open>Contents as Table><Table View> to open the table view you have just stored for the element type.

  8. Make the settings for the table view (e.g. groupings, filters).

  9. Select Design>Table View>Save in the table view to save the settings.
