Configure Change Logging Dialog
You can define the settings for change logs in the Configure Change Logging dialog.
Purpose
If you have model administrator rights, you can call the Configure Change Logging dialog for a model by selecting Change Log>Configure... in the Administrative Tasks backstage view in order to active, deactivate and restrict change sets.
Structure
The Configure Change Logging dialog consists of the following elements:
-
Activate change logging check box
Activates or deactivates change logging.
-
Show backstage view 'Change Sets' check box
If options are set, then changes are logged but change sets for users and the Change Sets backstage view are not displayed.
Change logging without visible change sets is a good idea if you want to be able to trace model changes (e.g. for merging models) but the user does not want to use change logs for logging work orders.
-
Make change log anonymous check box
When this option is set, the user name will not be visible in change sets. The history of elements shows change sets.
-
Export model with change log check box
When this option is set, the change log will be included when this model is being converted, or exported via the administration program.
Restriction
Only appears for models from independent servers as the change log for a model version remains when converting into a model file.
The change sets are not taken into account for the following procedures:
- Saving a model as a model template
- Copying a model (in the Administration Program)
- Exporting or importing model fragments (also as a model template)
- Creating a new model from another active model
- Copying model elements using the clipboard
This option takes effect regardless of the activation of change logging.
-
Maximum storage time input field
Concerns all terminated change sets. 0 means unlimited. On reaching the specified age, a change set will be deleted, provided it is terminated.
-

Change Logging Configuration
Prerequisites
You require model administrator rights to configure change sets.
How to proceed
-
Select Model>Administrative Tasks and click on
Change Log>Configure...
The Configure Change Logging dialog appears.
-
To activate or deactivate change sets in a model, activate or deactivate the Activate change logging check box.
If change sets are activated, changes in the model are recorded in the user's active change set. Multiple users can be involved in a single change set.
-
To show the change set's, activate the Show backstage view 'Change Sets' check box.
The change sets are visible for the users and can be used for e.g. logging work orders.
-
To hide the user name in the change set, activate the Make change log anonymous check box.
No user names then appear in the change set.
-
To take the change sets into account when checking in, converting and exporting the model, activate the Export model with change log check box.
When this option is set, the change log will be included when this model is being converted, or exported via the administration program.
This option takes effect regardless of the activation of change logging.
-
To define the retention time for completed change logs, enter a duration in days into the Maximum storage time field. "0" specifies that the retention of change logs should not be restricted in time.
Once the set age for a completed change log is reached, it is deleted.
-
Confirm with OK.
