Preparing Create Templates

As an extension to the preconfigured create templates, you can assign your own create templates to the menu ribbon for creating menu elements in the model editor or in diagrams.

Context

Use the Start>New menu for creating model elements in the model editor.

Model elements are created in diagrams using the Design>Create Diagram Contents menu.

The model elements offered here are defined in the configuration editor using menu assignment of the corresponding create templates for the model editor or the respective diagram type.

The following steps are required for this:

  1. The stereotype must be (directly or indirectly) assigned to the model (to be shown in the model editor) or the diagram as contents.
  2. A create template must exist for the stereotype.
  3. The stereotype must be assigned to a stereotype which has instances that can logically contain the created elements, e.g. a package.
  4. The create template must be assigned to the menu (see following description).

The <Element Type>::<Create Template> structure in the Not Assigned assignment compartment is automatically taken from the stereotype's configuration All create templates are automatically resorted to the corresponding element type if they are deleted in the Assigned assignment compartment.

The assigned create templates are always shown in the Assigned assignment compartment in the <Submenu>::<Menu Command> structure. You can change the assignment here and, in doing so, combine any number of create templates in submenus.

You can change a submenu's name adopted by the element type without making other changes (apart from combining element types with the same name and icon).

A menu command's name, on the other hand, is always the localized name of the create template and can, therefore, not be independently changed.

How to proceed

  1. Jump to the Menus view.

  2. To provide create templates for diagrams in the model editor, select the <Profile>::Innovator-Specific::Model Type entry in the profile tree and the Display Context entry from the Menu drop-down list.

  3. To provide create templates for model elements in the model editor, select the <Profile>::Innovator-Specific::Innovator Model entry in the profile tree and the Model Element entry from the Menu drop-down list.

  4. To provide create templates for model elements for a diagram stereotype, select the <Profile>::<Profile section>::<Diagram type>::<Diagram stereotype> entry in the profile tree and an entry from the alphabetical list of all types of graphical elements which appear in the diagram according to the configuration from the Menu drop-down list

The current assignments for all create templates are shown in the assignment compartment.

  5. Select the diagram or element type/s (submenus) in the Not Assigned assignment compartment which you want to assign create templates to.

  6. Select Edit>Assign. or drag them into the Assigned assignment compartment using drag-and-drop.

    You have now created submenus.

  7. Select one or more create templates (menu commands) in the Not Assigned assignment compartment which you want to assign to a submenu.

  8. To assign the selected create templates to a submenu as menu commands, drag them from the Assigned assignment compartment to this submenu using drag-and-drop.

If you select the Edit>Assign menu command, the selected create templates are assigned into a new submenu as menu commands.

The create templates are listed in the Assigned assignment compartment. They then appear in the respective submenus in the model editor in the Start>New menu or in the diagram editor in the Design>Create Diagram Contents menu.

  9. Move the menu commands into the order you require within a submenu using the mouse.
