Creating and Assigning Profile Elements

The idea behind model configuration is to define permissible model elements and their relationships using profiles. These profiles define which model elements are available, what form they can be displayed in and how they can be created, assigned and related.

You are in a certain configuration view in the profile when creating or assigning profile elements.

The profile tree can be found on the left-hand side of the configuration editor and shows the entire configuration as a tree structure. Each of the profile tree's roots displays a profile. The structure is identical in all views up until this profile level.

A profile section is the first structure level of a profile. It already depends on the configuration contents and, therefore, differentiates in the views. Descriptions about the configuration views at the profile section's levels starts in the "Extending Model Configurations with Stereotypes" chapter and continues.
