Quick Comparison of Element Versions

Compare a version of an element with another version.

Prerequisites

You require the Align Models privilege.

You do not require any special rights for the right-hand model.

The quick compare initially opens the Align Models editor in Compare mode. The elements have the same Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) and come from different model versions. Diagram comparison automatically appears if a diagram is being compared.

For the Merge in the left-hand model, i.e. the copying of changes from the right-hand model version, you require access rights in the active model.

Context

The Quick Compare context menu command can be used for all model elements not within the Align Models editor and opens the dialog of the same name.

You can select another (running) model version of the same model as default in the Quick Compare dialog when comparing elements of the same UUID from different models. The model version selected is always the right model. The active model is always the left model.

You can also compare the element in the active model with an element with the same UUID in any other model of a running model server in the same Innovator version. You can transfer elements with the same UUID into other models, e.g. as model fragments.

How to proceed

Select an element and select Quick Compare in the context menu if you wish to compare an element with another version of the element.

The dialog of the same name appears.
Select the model of the element to compare.

The OK button is activated.
You can also compare the version of the element in the active model with an element with the same UUID in any other model of a running model server in the same Innovator version by activating the Show more check box.

The tree with the models which can be accessed is shown.

Display is not restricted to models that contain the model element.
Confirm your selection with OK.

The "In the right model no matching element could be found. . Assign the element manually or choose another root element in the left model!" warning appears if no element with the same UUID is found in the selected model.

Element versions are compared in the Align Models editor if an element with the same UUID is found in the right model.
