Adding Labels to Elements

Labels can be added to model elements; these are then used to identify the elements in certain circumstances.

Essential Label Properties

Labels are an Innovator-specific property for model elements; they exist as standard for almost all model elements.

Labels are

  • From String, Integer, Enumeration, Boolean Term, Date/Time or Decimal type
  • Able to be configured for almost all model elements
  • Not able to be localized

A label can be configured in such a way that it is not shown in the documentation.

Strings or integers can be assigned to a label of the String, Integer or Decimal type. Value lists can be configured for labels of these types.

Only configured label values are allowed for labels with the Enumeration or Boolean Term type. These labels always have one default value.

Label colors are set in the configuration.

Setting Labels

Context

Labels can be configured for almost all model element types. You can edit a label in the model in the Properties tool window.

You can only set label values for a model element corresponding to the configuration.

You can use the clipboard to add the values you want.

Labels are a configured property of a model element type and cannot be separately deleted from the model.

How to proceed

  1. Select the model element that has the label you want to change.

  2. Change the label's value you want to change in the Labels tab in the Properties tool window.

  3. Confirm the change with [Enter].

Using color labels changes the color of the selected element accordingly.
