Selecting an Element from Known Names
Select an element using its name.
Prerequisites
You know the name of the element you want to select.
How to proceed
-
Jump to the Find By Name tab.
An alphabetic list view appears.
- If lots of elements are shown, scroll down until you find the element you are looking for.
- If you know the type of the element you are looking for you can make the selection clearer by selecting an element type from the drop-down list below the tree.
-
You can enter the first few letters of the name in the Pattern field.
The element you are looking for appears in the visible area.
- If there is more than one element with the same name, hover the mouse pointer over the element to see the tool tip. You will then be able to read the complete name and work out which is the correct element.
- If you are still unsure as to whether you have the right element, jump to the Browse tab and the tree view. The selected element is then shown in the hierarchy and you can identify it by its surrounding elements.
- You can jump between tree and list view as often as you like. The selection will not be lost.
-
Select the element you want and click the OK button.
The element selected is adopted.
