Creating a Model Using a Model Fragment

Create a new model from a model fragment stored in a file.

Prerequisites

The New Model Wizard is open.

Context

You want to create a new model using an earlier modeling as your starting point. A model fragment was already exported for this purpose from another model. This model fragment is now imported into an empty model.

Step 1 of 3: Create a new model

How to proceed

  • Select the source for the new model. To do this, click on Saved Model Fragments.

    This automatically takes you to step 2.

Step 2 of 3: Select files

How to proceed

  1. Select the file with the model fragment you want from the Saved Model Content field. To do this, click on Select.... Files with model fragments have the extension ".aob".
  2. Select the file with the applicable model configuration from the Saved Configuration field.
  3. The Next button takes you to Step 4.

Step 3 of 3: Ready to create a new model

How to proceed

  1. Check the settings for creating the new model.
  2. Enter a name for the new model that is unique within the target repository.
  3. To stop people accessing the model who should not or to protect it from being deleted by mistake, enter an administrator password and repeat the password.
  4. If everything is correct, click on Finish.

    The model is created in the private cloud. This may take some time.

  5. Three options then appear for you to select:

    1. If you want to set-up users for this model or make changes to other model configuration settings, then select Edit the Model Configuration.
    2. If you want to see the model from the model administrator's view or modify the model structure, select Login as Model Administrator.
    3. If you do not want to use the other options yet, select Only close the New Model Wizard.
  6. To open the model at a later stage, select Model>Open & Log-in.
  7. To edit the model's configuration at a later stage, select Model>Administrative Tasks.
