Database Connection Settings Dialog

The dialog is used for configuring an existing database connection.

Purpose

You can use the Settings dialog for modifying the settings for an existing database connection and for setting the import parameters when updating the source.

Prerequisites

The Database Connection>Source>Configuration command for calling the dialog is active if a database connection exists.

You require the Configuring Database Connections privilege when modifying connection data.

Structure

The Settings dialog contains two tabs and two buttons.

Connection Tab

The tab contains general settings for the current database connection.

Name

The name of the connection shown.

Group Server

  • Type: DBMS-specific connection type.
  • Host: The address or name of the computer that the DBMS is running on.
  • Port: The port on which DBMS gets JDBC access.

Group DB Filter

  • Catalog: DBMS-specific object instance of a database name
  • Schema: DBMS-specific object instance of a schema name

Group Login

  • User name: The user to be used to access the database.
  • Password: The user's password.

Check connection settings

Try to establish a connection using the current settings.. Use to test whether the data entered can be made into a database connection. The button is activated if a database connection was selected.

Advanced Tab

The tab contains extra settings for the current database connection.

  • URL prefix: DBMS-specific connection prefix
  • Driver name: The Java class which enables access to DBMS.
  • Driver file: Possible Java class path extension.
  • Integrated Security: ID for use of user data for the user logged in to the operating system.
  • Table type pattern: Set table type.
  • Table name filter: Tables with a name containing the given string are filtered out.
  • Table name pattern: ID for use of user data for the user logged in to the operating system.
  • Additional filters: Enter additional filters.
  • Index with key names: Indexes that were automatically created for key columns are ignored.
  • Extended configuration: You can transfer additional parameters for special import functions here.

Buttons

  • Apply Button

    This adopts your changes.

  • Cancel Button

    This closes the wizard. If you have made any changes, you are asked if you want to save these.

Modifying Settings for an Existing Database Connection

Prerequisites

Existing database connection.

Context

You can modify the settings for an existing connection to a datbase.

How to proceed

  1. Select Database Connection>Source>Configuration.

    The dialog of the same name appears.

  2. Modify the settings you want in the Connection or Advanced tabs.
  3. Confirm your entry with Apply.

    The connection is refreshed with the modified settings.
