Importing a DDL File

You can import tables, views and other database objects such as constraints, triggers and indexes using DDL. The DDL file should contain all tables available in the database schema.

Prerequisites

You have loaded the DB-specific profile and logged in with the Database Architect role.

How to proceed

  1. Select the database schema you want to import to.
  2. Select Extras>Import>DDL File.

    The DDL Import Wizard for selecting the file to be imported appears.

  3. To select a DDL file, click on .

    The Open dialog appears.

  4. Select the DDL file and confirm with Open.

    The DDL file's path is shown.

  5. Select the target package in the model where the DDL file tables should be imported.
  6. Click on Next.

    The wizard jumps to the next step. All tables and views available for import in the DDL file are shown in the wizard.

  7. Activate the appropriate check boxes in order to select the tables in the DDL file that you want to import.
  8. You can use the  Table Selection button to export the current selection or import a selection from a file.
  9. To import the selected tables and views directly, click on Import.

    The selected tables and views are imported directly into the target package.

    You can see the information and errors produced during the import in the Info tool window. Read these through to see what the import has created and problems that may have occurred throughout the import.

  10. To complete the DB Manager editor for comparison and import purposes, click on Advanced import.

    The selected tables, views and target package are shown in the DB Manager editor.

    Use the Database Connection>Actions>Refresh database schema or ...>Complete database schema commands for the import.
