A relational database's database schema is imported if you want to create or maintain a schema in your Innovator model's database model.
A relational database's database schema is adopted in a database model to create and maintain database systems.
Database schemata in the relational database and database model are compared using an integrated comparison function so that changes can be carried out easily and can be checked. Unlike with other manufacturer-specific database design tools, conceptual schemata can also be mapped onto other manufacturer's database systems. Comparison is carried out via JDBC or SQL/DDL
If you integrate DB-ER mapping, you can use the complete reverse engineering, from the real database management system (DBMS) to the conceptual model.
Prerequisites
The wizard for this is only available in Innovator for Database Architects.
Context
You want to query a relational database's database schema.
How to proceed
Select Extras>Import>Relational Database.
The Database Import Wizard appears.
Prerequisites
The Database Import Wizard is open. You have also established the connection to the database affected,
Context
You want to import the linked database's database schema into a database model.
The Import command overwrites existing tables with the same name. This procedure cannot be undone.
How to proceed
Select the database concerned and click on Next.
The window jumps to the next step. A list shows all tables and view from the relational database's schema.
Select the tables and views that you want to import and click on Next.
The window jumps to the next step. It shows all schemata in your data model.
Select the target schema where the tables and views should be imported and click on Import.
The selected tables and views are imported into the selected target.
Prerequisites

Context
You want to update the database schema in your database model.
The Refresh database schema command overwrites existing tables with the same name. This procedure cannot be undone.
How to proceed
Select the database concerned and click on Advanced import.
The Advanced database import dialog appears.
Click on Connect.
The wizard closes and you are connected to the database.
The
DB Manager is opened and the Database Connection menu ribbon is active. A list of tables and views from the relational database's schema is shown on the left-hand side.
DB Manager on the left-hand side for the table in the linked database that you want to update in the database model's target schema on the right-hand side.
Select Database Connection>Actions>Refresh database schema.
The tables selected on the left in the relational database are updated in the data model on the right-hand side.
This overwrites existing tables and adds new tables.

Context
You want to extend the database schema in your database model.
