Import elements from a previously exported version file.
This dialog and the respective Export command allow you to exchange groups of model elements with the file system. This derives an array of use cases:
Undo changes or deletes
Export relevant model areas before making a big change or at regular intervals. This means you can always import this state if you need to restore it.
Copy subsystems
File versioning can be used for copying subsystems by adding their structure to other models or within the model.
An Innovator model is open.
Enterprise edition: Roles used for logging-in require the "Version" privilege.
This command does not exist for the Personal edition.
Enter the file's path in the "Version File" field or select the file to be imported using the "Select" button.
The "Identify Elements by Namespace" option determines where the elements to be imported are created. Each element has a UUID which can be used to uniquely find it. If this option is set, the element's namespace is used instead of the UUID.
If the "Adopt UUID on Import" option is not set, an element's UUID is retained when replaced. A new UUID is created if the element does not already exist. If this option is set, the UUID is always taken from the version file.
If the "Adopt UUID on Import" option is set, an error may occur stating that UUID being imported differs from the existing one or that the UUID to be adopted already exists in the model. The "Behavior on Conflicts" group appears and you can then decide how to treat the conflict.
Select the "Identify Elements by Namespace" option.
Do not select the "Adopt UUID on Import" option if you want to import into the same model. It may be a good idea to adopt UUIDs from the version file if you want to implement the import in another or empty model and you want to activate the importing elements via the API.
It normally makes sense to identify elements using namespaces and then adopt UUIDs from the version file. You should then select the "Adopt imported UUID" option in the "Behavior on Conflicts" group.
