Using Model Trees

Use model trees much as you would trees in the navigation frame of Windows Explorer.

Model trees display the structure of their model in a tree structure. They are used at various places in the user interface to enable access to model elements.

The model tree in the Model Structure tool window view in the Model Contents tool window has a central function in the user interface. It is used for navigation in your Innovator model. It displays all structural elements of your model in a tree structure of the kind you will be familiar with from the navigation frame of Windows Explorer.

The structural elements of your model are:

  • System models
  • Models
  • Packages
  • Components

Model trees include the following means for identifying items:

  • Expand icons before the item indicate sub trees ( (closed) or (open))

  • Bold text indicates elements that can be edited in editors (diagrams or tables)
