Adding and Selecting Perspectives

You can save the current layout of the tool windows and document area as perspectives and open them.

Adding a Perspective

Context

There are many different ways to design the layout of tool windows. Document window layout cannot be saved.

Different tool window layouts are suited to different modeling tasks (e.g. editing diagrams, specifying elements, creating documents). You can add the perspective for your particular requirement to the View>Windows>Arrange Windows submenu and call it again as needed.

How to proceed

  1. Open the desired tool window.

  2. Arrange the tool window to suit your needs.

  3. Select View>Windows>Arrange Windows>Manage Saved Perspectives.

    The dialog of the same name appears.

  4. Click on  New.

    A new user-specific perspective is created.

  5. Enter a unique name for the perspective and press [Enter].

    The user-specific perspective is saved with the current settings and is then loaded.

    The perspective is added alphabetically to the perspectives submenu.

  6. Close the dialog.

Selecting a Perspective

Context

The initial and added perspectives are offered when calling a particular layout of tool windows.

How to proceed

  • Select the perspective you want from the View>Windows>Arrange Windows submenu.

    The program interface is arranged according to your selection. This may open, close or move tool windows, depending on your selection.
