Impact Analysis Display Tool Window
The Impact Analysis Display tool window is used for setting how elements should be treated in analysis graphs.
Purpose
The Impact Analysis Display tool window is used for setting how nodes and edges should be displayed in analysis graphs.
All nodes have a white and all edges a black background color as default.
The name is shown for all nodes and edges with a path that contains precisely one model element.
The type of line and arrowhead that are set as standard in the notation are used for edges with precisely one model element. Concept relationships are the exception to this; the type of line and arrowhead are taken from the model element.
If you wish to deviate from the standard display, set the display configuration for user-defined elements, stereotypes, element types and relationship properties in the Set conditions for display configuration dialog.
The display configuration can be stored specific for each user and appears in a drop-down list.
Call
Open the Impact Analysis Display tool window with Impact Analysis>Configuration>Edit Display.
Structure
The Impact Analysis Display tool window consists of the Elements, Stereotypes, Element Types and Relationship Properties tabs; these are split into the Default and User-Defined areas. You can limit both of these using a <Filter> filter field.
You can move entries between the areas using the Enter user-defined behavior and
Reset to default buttons.
In the User-Defined area, each entry to the right has a button for editing the entry's display configuration in the Set conditions for display configuration dialog.
You can use this dialog to set how the nodes or edges are displayed for user-defined elements, stereotypes, element types and relationship properties.
If a node or edge's path contains precisely one model element, then the element's properties can be selected for display. Otherwise, a name can be entered and displayed. If you do not assign an explicit name or delete this, then the name of the first and last model element separated by three points is used by default.
You can specify whether the stereotype icon should be displayed for nodes.
You can specify which line and arrowhead type should be displayed for edges.
Display configuration can be stored as user-specific and then (using the Edit Model-Wide Configurations privilege) made available for all model users throughout the models.
Editing Display Configuration
Prerequisites
The impact analysis diagram is open in the Edit Mode (F6).
Context
Set how elements are displayed in the analysis graph.
How to proceed
-
To open the Impact Analysis Display tool window, select
Impact Analysis>Configuration>Edit Display.
The tool window is opened below the diagram by default.
-
To change the way an element, a stereotype, an element type or a relationship property is displayed in the graph, select the element in the Default list and click on
Enter user-defined behavior.
Alternatively, you can select the element in the graph and select
Edit Element Display, Edit Stereotype Display, Edit Element Type Display or Edit Property Display in the context menu.
The entry is moved from the Default list to the User-Defined list.
The
Set conditions for display configuration dialog appears.
-
Set the desired display in the dialog.
-
Confirm your display configuration with OK so that it can be used on the graph.
The graph is then updated automatically
Impact Analysis>Refresh>Automatically or manually
Impact Analysis>Refresh>Refresh graph depending on which one is activated.
-
Select
Impact Analysis>Configuration>Save to store this configuration as user-specific.
Preparing Display Configuration for All Users of the Model
Prerequisites
Your role currently being used has the Edit Model-Wide Configurations privilege.
You have stored the display configuration as user-specific.
Context
You want to prepare a user-specific display configuration under an appropriate name for all model users (throughout all models).
Model-wide configuration is used as follows:
-
Drop-down list in the Impact Analysis>Configuration ribbon group.
The selected display configuration is used immediately for the analysis graph.
-
Display Configuration (model-wide) property in the Properties tool window under Properties
The selected display configuration is saved as a property of the analysis diagram. This display configuration is used when the diagram is opened.
How to proceed
-
Select
Impact Analysis>Configuration>Manage-
The Manage Display Configurations dialog appears.
-
Select your user-specific configuration.
-
Click on
Deploy so that the display configuration is available in all models.
Another entry appears in the list.
-
Exit the dialog with Close.
All users in the model can use the display configuration.
Model-wide display configuration is provided in the Properties tool window for the Impact Analysis diagram.
Alternatively, configuration selection is also possible in the Impact Analysis>Configuration group's respective drop-down list, as is the case with user-defined display configuration.
