Create or Modify Group Dialog

In the central user management, you create a user group or change the data for a group.

Purpose

User groups group users with certain common factors, e.g. with the same tasks or responsibilities.

You can use this dialog to create a user group or change the data for a group in the central user management.

User groups created here are called "Innovator groups" in order to distinguish them from the groups that come from the LDAP server.

Prerequisites

In order to call the central user management on the main license server in the administration program and use its functions, you must be logged-in to the license server as an administrator or your user must have the Manage Users right (normally as a group member).

You can change the details of manually created groups only. You cannot change the details of groups that are managed in external user configurations.

You can change the Manage Users right for each group.

Call

  1. To create an Innovator group, go to the Groups tab and select New>Group (Ctrl+Shift+G).

  2. To change details about a group, select the group and select  Edit>Properties (Enter).

For LDAP groups, you can only change the Manage Users right.

Structure

The changeable information for a group is as follows:

  • Name field

Name of the group from the external user management or name assigned in the central user management (can be changed for Innovator groups only)

  • Domain field

Domain of the group from the external user management or domain name assigned in the central user management (can be changed for Innovator groups only)

  • Manage Users check box

Management status in the Innovator central user management

Creating Innovator User Groups

Context

You use manually created groups to merge groups or to group users by project.

How to proceed

  1. To create a group, go to the Groups tab and select New>Group (Ctrl+Shift+G).

    A dialog appears.

  2. Enter the name of the group in the system in the Name field.

  3. Enter the group's Windows domain in the system in the Domain field.

  4. Activate the check box with the same name to assign the Manage Users right to all users in the group.

  5. Confirm with OK.
