Show Compartments Dialog
Set the visibility and maintenance mode of existing compartments in the Show Compartments dialog.
Purpose
You can set the visibility and maintenance mode of existing compartment entries to a value other than the initial value determined by the configuration in the Show Compartments dialog.
Compartment visibility can be set to make the diagram easier to read and control what information is shown.
Through maintaining compartments you can set whether model elements which are created outside of this diagram and can be maintained in this section are automatically shown as compartments.
Prerequisites
Compartment entries are managed for nodes of certain element types (e.g. classes and entities).
Call
Open the Show Compartments dialog in the context menu of a corresponding diagram node with Show compartment entries....
Structure
All compartments of the node are listed in the Compartment column in the dialog. You can reverse the alphabetical sort order by clicking on the column header.
You can set as Visibility whether a node should be shown as expanded or collapsed. You can set the following for compartments:
- Hidden
The compartment and its content is not displayed. - [Shown]
The compartment is shown as closed or open.- Open
The Compartment is shown with the compartment's details. - Closed
The Compartment is not displayed.
- Open
- Unchanged
The value previously set is not changed. This setting is particularly advantageous for multiple selection.
You can set the following Maintenance for Compartments:
- Automatic
Innovator will carry out the maintenance. Elements created elsewhere are automatically added to this compartment. - User-Defined
The user will carry out the maintenance. Elements created elsewhere are not automatically added to this compartment. The modeler adds these elements manually if needs be. - Unchanged
The value previously set is not changed. This value appears in the selection if maintenance is not possible for the corresponding compartment, which means both other values are also not valid.
Definitions for the Display of Compartments
Configuration requirements for displaying compartments only take affect when creating or adding nodes in diagrams. They set the initial value. Changed configuration specifications have no effect on existing nodes.
In the case of the multiple selection of nodes, you can make settings for the visibility of the nodes and for the visibility and maintenance of joint selections.
You can set for each selected node whether it should be shown as expanded or collapsed.
For each permissible section of the node in accordance with the configuration, you can define its visibility in the diagram, so decide whether to hide the section or to show it open or closed.
Through maintaining compartments you can set whether model elements which are created outside of this diagram and can be maintained in this section are automatically shown as compartments. This generally concerns compartments which show contained elements which cannot be versioned. Compartments which results from other information such as e.g. the Realized Interfaces compartment, cannot be maintained and need to be added manually.
The automatic value does not mean that the compartment content is always complete. An attribute can e.g. always be removed from the Attribute compartment and reinserted using the selection button that appears. Maintenance is not affected.
