Connecting to an Innovator Model
You need to connect to an Innovator model if you want to use the model's requirements and use cases or if you want to insert new requirements and use cases.
Purpose
You need to connect to an Innovator model if you want to use the model's requirements and use cases or if you want to insert new requirements and use cases.

Context
Innovator Office Integration can be connected to more than one model at a time.
Model connections are stored in the document. You can log-out of the model but still maintain the connection data for the model. The Status column of the models currently connected shows a red stop sign if a connection is stored but you are not logged-in.
If you use single sign-on for the respective model's repository, you are logged-in to the model using your system login and do not need to enter a password. You then only need to enter a role. If you do not use single sign-on then you need to select a user name.
How to proceed
-
Jump to the Innovator for Microsoft Word tool window in the Models tab.
-
Click on New.
The Model dialog appears and shows all models on the configured server.
-
Select a repository, model, user (if necessary) and role, then enter a password if needed.
-
Click on Login.
The connection to the model is established and the connected model is shown in the list of the same name. Requirements and use cases in this model are loaded in the Innovator tool window.

How to proceed
-
Select the model you want to reconnect to from the Source drop-down list.
-
If you do not use single sign-on then you can select another user name if required.
- If single sign-on is not set for the repository, then you need to enter the password used, if applicable.
-
Click on Login.
The connection to the model is established and the connected model is shown in the Source list. Requirements and use cases in this model are loaded in the Innovator tool window.

Prerequisites
You can change roles in the Innovator model while connected to the model.
Context
If you select an entry from the Source list then the connection details are shown in the Connection data section.
How to proceed
Select the desired role from the Role drop-down list.
You now have the rights assigned to the role.

Context
Model connection data is stored in the Word document. You need to explicitly discard the connection data to remove it.
How to proceed
-
Select the connection name you want to remove from the Word document.
-
Click on Discard.
The connection data is removed.
