Setting Display Rules (Display Options)

You can use display options to select different displays for an element type's various stereotypes so that e.g. key words are only displayed for a special stereotype. You can also select various display options for different graphic occurrences of the same logical element.

You can configure display options in the configuration editor for stereotypes of diagrams and elements which are similar to diagrams (e.g. activities) using the  Edit>Display Options... menu command.

Note

It is particularly easy to edit display options in the  Menus view, as the stereotype's structure is limited to the diagram stereotype in the profile tree.

Display options are set a graphic element/stereotype combination of a displayed logical name for the diagram stereotype. It is possible to select different displays for an element type's various stereotypes so that e.g. key words are only displayed for a special stereotype. It is also possible to select various display options for various graphic occurrences of the same logical element (e.g. displaying interfaces as classifier nodes, socket/ball or compartments).

Settings can be made for a stereotype in various profiles. This is e.g. necessary as the available element types depend on the contents configuration in the respective profile. However, only local settings are displayed in a profile.

If you create a diagram in the model, the settings of all imported profiles are collected for the diagram and combined into one clear list. The profile's settings are determined in the profile's sort order.

You can overwrite configured display options for diagram content locally for presentation purposes in the respective diagram editor in the Display Options dialog. The settings apply for all elements of the same type within the active diagram.
