Using Innovator Links
Innovator links are used in external documents or HTML documentation for returns to Innovator model elements. Alternative link names for Innovator links are primarily used for simply addressing current model content for external access.
What are Innovator Links?
If you want to use hyperlinks to Innovator elements in external documents or enable return to the model from HTML documentation, then these links lead to a concrete model. If you work with model versions, then you may wish to make these links lead to a different version than previously used. You can use alternative link names to do this.
You can create external applications in Innovator links by copying a model element into Innovator and inserting the application into a text as an Innovator link (inno:). Appropriate links for returning to the model are also used in documentation generation.
A unique physical address is used for independent models. It is made up of repository name, model type and model name.
When a model version is created from an independent model, then the previous model name is automatically entered as the default name for the Innovator link. Innovator links from external applications automatically reference the managed model version; this always takes precedence.
You can set further alternative names for managed model versions and specify a name as the default. The current default name is used for creating Innovator links in external applications or for documentation generation accordingly.
To redirect references to a new model version simply change the default name to the name used and deactivate or delete this in the older model version.
If there is more than one model version with the same name that can be accessed via an Innovator link, then a selection dialog appears for you to select which model you would like to choose.
Naming Conventions for Alternative Innovator Link Names
You can use all valid characters for a URL when choosing the link name [A-Za-z0-9-._~]{1,1024}
Empty and duplicate link names are not permissible.
