Providing Models as Initial Model Versions
Provide your own model as an initial model version of a new model under version management or insert it into an existing version hierarchy.
Prerequisites
- A model in a repository with single sign-on must be selected in the Standalone Servers tab.
- A model rule for the selected model's repository needs to exist for the user.
- An agent must be running in the repository's INOPRJ directory.
- A version rule that enables the resulting model version to start must exist for the user.
Context
You can provide your own model as a first model version of a new model with the same name under version management.
At least one initial model version must be prepared to be able to add your own model as a model version in a version hierarchy.
You can rename the resulting model version.
You can also move versions in the hierarchy at a later stage using version management.
If an independent model is provided in the version control, then the initial model's change set is adopted in the newly-created model version. The name the model was previously available under is automatically entered as the default name for Innovator links; this means that Innovator links refer to the model version.
How to proceed
-
In the Standalone Servers tab in the server tree, select the model for which you want to provide an initial model version.
-
To create a model version, select Model>Version Management>Place Under Version Management.
The Place Under Version Management wizard appears.
-
In the Create as new model field, enter a name for the version, e.g. a version number.
The model name stays the same.
-
Activate the Add as model version radio button to insert the selected model into an existing version hierarchy as a model version.
- Select a model in the hierarchy to create a new model version at the topmost level.
- Select the new model version in the hierarchy to integrate it below a model version.
-
Click on the Next to go to step 2.
-
Enter a description for the version in the Version Name field, e.g. a version number.
The version name can be changed later on.
Click on Next to go to step 3.
-
Enter a description for the version in the Description field.
The description can be changed later on.
Click on Next to go to step 4.
-
Check your settings for creating the initial model version.
-
To start the new model version straight away, activate the Start the New Model Version check box.
- If you have converted the last model of a repository after several cycles, you can use the Stop the Original Model Server check box to automatically end the model server of the repository if necessary.
-
If everything is correct, click on Finish.
The new managed model is created. This may take some time.
If the name of the independent model differs from that of the managed model, then it is adapted to suit the selected managed model. This may cause the model name to change. The name of the managed model is also used as the default link name of the new model version.
The tab jumps to Managed Models and the model version is selected.
