Managing Roles
All roles which exist in configuration of the repository's models and which should be used for single sign-on user login need to be added to the repository's central role list.
Role Concept
The Innovator role concept always requires the selection of a user role in the model. A normal user can only log into a model with the roles configured there.
When the model server of a repository is started with single sign-on, all roles contained in the models are made known to the main license server for the central user management. Identically named roles are merged.
When a user logs-in to a model in single sign-on repositories, a list of configured roles for the user is determined from the configured login rules in central user management. The roles available to the user appear for them to select when logging-in to the model. A normal user cannot log-in without a user role.
Attention
Please note that the renaming and deletion of a role affects the models which the role comes from as the login rules of the original role are then lost.
Note
Please note that all changes to roles in the central user management require a corresponding action in the affected models.
Creating or Changing Roles
Context
Only the roles listed in the Roles table can be used with the login rules also defined for them when using single sign-on login; these roles must also exist in the model.
You can manually add to the list of roles.
How to proceed
-
Jump to the Roles tab.
-
To create a role, select
New>Role (Ctrl+Shift+R).
-
To change a role, select
Edit>Properties (Enter).
A dialog appears.
-
Enter the name of the role.
Please note that the name must be unique.
-
Confirm with OK.
The role is adopted in the role table.
Deleting Roles
Context
You can delete roles from the central roles list.
Note
Roles are deleted from the roles list without checking where they are used. Rules that are directly related to the role are retained.
Deleted roles might reappear in the list as a result of the automatic update of roles from the models.
How to proceed
-
In the Roles table, select the role you wish to delete.
-
Click on
Edit>Delete (Del).
-
Confirm the security question with OK or cancel with Cancel.
