Activating Licenses

Licenses for working with Innovator products can be found in the license repository. The number of licenses is registered in this repository for each of these products. This license repository can only be loaded in the Administration Program on the computer, which is registered as the license server computer in the license repository.

Setting Up a Complete License Repository

Prerequisites

You need to be logged-in as license administrator when activating licenses.

You received a special license repository (an inolic.lr file) for the license server computer from MID GmbH.

Start the license server and the Administration Program on the computer on which you want to run the main license server.

Context

If you have ordered licenses for your work with Innovator products or if they were supplied for testing purposes, MID GmbH will provide you with the license repository, in which the number of licenses for each of these products is recorded.

This license repository can only be loaded on the computer which is registered as the license server computer in the license repository.

Save the inolic.lr file sent by the MID GmbH locally on the computer, without overwriting the already existing file.

How to proceed

  1. If you do not run Innovator with a demo license, log-in to the Administration Program as license server administrator.

  2. Select License>Main License Server>Load License File.

    The dialog of the same name appears.

  3. Select the license repository sent to you by MID GmbH and expand the licenses using Open.

    The license repository is registered to the license server computer. Innovator is now ready for use with all products you have purchased.

Registering Another License Server Computer

Prerequisites

You require a license key to make the license repository used up to now accessible on the new license server computer: Once again, MID GmbH will request the computer identification for the new license server computer as a prerequisite for generating the license key.

Start the license server and the Administration Program on the computer on which you want to run the main license server.

Context

If you have already worked with Innovator, but now want to use a different license server computer, you must register the new computer in the license repository with a license key. MID GmbH will send you this key in the form of a simple character string upon request based on computer identification of the new license server computer.

If the new license server is to have a different $INOLIC directory, then shut down all connected license servers and copy the license repository inolic.lr from the inodir directory of the old license server to that of the new one. (If the INOLIC environment variable is not set, INODIR is used.)

How to proceed

  1. Log-in as license server administrator.

  2. Select License>Main License Server>Change License Key.

    The dialog of the same name appears.

  3. In the License key field, enter the license key sent to you by MID GmbH and close the dialog box by clicking on OK.

    The license repository is registered to the new license server computer. You can work with Innovator in the usual way.
