Filtering Elements and Properties
To simplify the evaluation of the comparison results by omitting irrelevant information, exclude certain elements and properties from the display of the comparison results using filters.
Restricting Elements and Properties in the Comparison Results
You normally do not want to see all differences, only certain ones. You can set a filter for elements and properties to establish these differences more easily.
You can use the context menu so that elements or properties are not taken into consideration for the comparison result view. You can set that e.g. elements with certain element types or properties of a certain type should be filtered out, which means they will no longer be considered when finding the differences between two elements or properties.
Elements and properties that have been filtered out are no longer included in the display of differences. This means that a node that is shown as being different can then be shown as being the same once a property has been filtered out.
You can save your current settings for the display of the comparison results as a filter configuration.
You can select Align Models>Filter>Settings to check which one of these special filters is set in a dialog and remove individual or all filters if you need to. You can also set the filter for element types in the dialog.
You can open the dialog using Settings in the ribbon. This icon also tells you whether filters are active. If this is the case, the icon has a colored background.
The Merge filter settings dialog is not really used for activating filters, it is primarily used for deactivating filters. You can deactivate the filters you have activated via the context menu using this dialog. The dialog also has a Reset Filter button for deactivating all filters in one fell swoop.
Note
The dialog can be used for deactivating filters but also contains lots of additional information. The number of elements of the respective element type are shown in the Shown Element Types tab (Matches column).
