Basic Authorization Concept
Innovator manages access rights, read permissions, execution rights and privileges in models. Access controls are managed with editing or read-only modes for documents and exclusive editing or releasing of model elements. This is done so that no time needs to be wasted with extensive consolidation. For certain functions, administrator rights for the model, repository, license server or the environment are required.
Rights can be assigned to configurable user roles in following ways in Innovator models.
-
The access rights of user roles are saved for each individual model element. These rights are preallocated upon creation when the execution rights for the create template are adopted as access rights.
-
The model administrator can restrict access rights and read permission (visibility) for user roles at package level.
-
Role-based execution rights are only managed for create templates, verification routines, engineering actions and documentation commands; these provide or execute appropriate menu commands.
-
Some operations (e.g. configuration and label assignment) have privileges i.e. a role can carry out the tasks assigned to it.
Innovator uses its own access control for model elements. If a user accesses a model element using the access right, they can then lock the element for exclusive editing.
Administrator rights are managed for models, model servers, license servers and the environment.
You can use the option Read access only to launch model servers in read-only mode, which restricts the rights of all users accordingly.
