Setting Edit or Read-Only Mode

Diagrams and tables need to be in Edit Mode mode before they can be edited. Select Read-Only Mode to prevent changes being made.

Prerequisites

A diagram or element is selected in the diagram. You require access rights when editing a diagram.

Context

Diagrams need to be in Edit Mode before they can be edited.

You can only look at and comment on diagrams if they are in Read-Only Mode.

  • Edit Mode (F6)

If you have the respective authorization and the document is not currently being edited by another user, then you can open documents (diagrams, tables) in edit mode.

Other users can only open this document in Read-Only Mode while you are editing it.

  • Read-Only Mode (Ctrl+F6)

You can open documents (diagrams, tables) in the Read-Only Mode or change from edit mode to Read-Only Mode if you want to protect your document from accidental changes being made.

The document is automatically opened in Read-Only Mode if

    • You have made the corresponding setting in the options
    • You do not have authorization to edit the document
    • The document is currently being edited by another user

Documents can be opened by more than one user when in Read-Only Mode.

In this mode, direct changes such as the addition or removal of elements or graphical changes in diagrams cannot be made to the document in question. However, if you have the relevant access authorization, you can edit other properties of the document.
