Setting the Order of Actions

The order of actions is modeled on the control flow that links the individual actions with each other. Use pseudo nodes to branch or merge the sequence.

Context

The order of actions is based on the control flow that links the actions with each other.

How to proceed

  1. Select the action in the diagram.

The selected action is outlined with a blue frame and the carousel appears.

  2. Move the mouse pointer over the  Control Flow Edge connection type.
  3. To create a control flow to an existing action, drag the connection with the left mouse button pressed on it and release the mouse button.

The control flow edge is created. As with almost all model elements, it has a logical name; however, this is not relevant for the modeling and is not visible in the diagram. The properties that are preallocated in the  control flow edge template can be changed directly using the  Properties tool window or the context menu for the control flow edge.

  4. To create a control flow to a new action, drag the connection with the left mouse button pressed on a free position inside the activity frame and release the mouse button.

A drop-down list with the permissible successors for the selected action appears. The list contains various actions and pseudo nodes.

  5. Click with the left mouse button on the desired follow-up action.

The action and the control flow edge for this action are created. As with almost all model elements, it has a logical name; however, this is not relevant for the modeling and is not visible in the diagram. The properties that are preallocated in the  control flow edge template can be changed directly using the  Properties tool window or the context menu for the control flow edge.
